A Plethora of Peculiar Projects- Part 11 ('Chicken Drumsticks' Purse)

Laying out layers of wool roving...

...and wetting them out...

...to make a soft pre-felt.

The flared shape of the purse was actually chosen...

...to use as much as possible of the finished pre-felt rectangle.

Stitching a pocket to the inside of side one.

Fashioning a foam resist...

...just slightly smaller than the two pre-felt pieces...

...which will comprise the front and back of the purse.

Adding a flap to side two.

Since I make a lot of purses (grin)...

...I'm always on the lookout for a simple strap or strap attachment...

...(see my other most recent innovation here).

This time, utilizing as much as I could of a finished rectangle of pre-felt...

...I set out to make another strap insertion which would allow for easy attachment.

Next time: I fashion the 'chicken drumsticks'.

My Trip to Rome- Part 4 of 4

It rather surprised me to discover...

...that in addition to its incredible statuary and antiquities...

...the Vatican Museum also boasts a large and wonderful...

...modern art collection!

Wouldn't this gilded motif look amazing, made up in felt? :)

The day after my daughter's wedding...

...many of the attendees shared a local winery tour and luncheon...

...in this lovely and atmospheric setting.

Throughout Rome, everywhere we walked...

...lovely surprises were to be found!

This amazing church entrance...

...reminded me a little of this scene in the movie 'Star Wars'.  ,)

Much of Rome wears, as its ambient shade, a warm terra cotta color...

...(although upon close examination, we realized that in this church, at least...

...the wall panels were merely painted to look like marble)!

Next time: I return to 'the land of felt'!

(Thanks for taking this journey with me!)

My Trip to Rome- Part 3 of 4 (Ceilings and Floors!)

I came home with a little kink in my neck...

...from admiring the many exquisite ceilings...

...on view in Rome! :)

There were those which resembled cameos...

...gorgeous gilded ones...

...and even some with figures in relief...

...and just when I needed a break from looking 'up'...

...along came the marvelous tiled floors...

...featuring both human figures...

...and real and mythical animals!

My Trip to Rome- Part 2 of 4

During my travels

...I saw quite a few peculiar things!

In the Vatican museum...

...there were statues bearing rather horrified expressions...

...beards which resembled fingers...

...and loads of animals!

I imagined that this snake statue was hissing...

..."Don't tread on me with those cool sssssshoes!" :)

During one of our extensive walks...

...I was thrilled to discover this iconic statue...

...(a representation of Romulus and Remus...

...suckling a she-wolf!).

It probably won't surprise you to discover...

...that I made special notice of any and all 'sheep art'...

...and I was delighted to find quite a number of pieces along the way! :)

My Trip to Rome- Part 1 of ?

As many of you already know...

...my eldest daughter was married in Italy last week!

My other three daughters served as her attendants...

...and I even 'glammed up' for this very special occasion! :)

Since we had such a perfect week in every way...

...I hope you won't mind if I take a short break from feltmaking...

...in order to share some of these wonderful images with you!

My hope is that some of these photographs...

...will serve as fodder for inspiration...

...since glorious design elements abound...

...in this ancient and romantic place!
