We spent a lovely weekend in Pittsburgh, recently...
...(an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution).
The museum boasts artifacts from 250 years of Pennsylvania history...
...including a delightful peek at the 'Mister Rogers' Neighborhood' set...
...and rooms full of glass used for tableware, industrial purposes...
...and as art.
There are paintings, stained glass windows and vintage clothing...
...and toys that would have been familiar to our parents (or grandparents).
Many of the exhibits reflect the immigrant heritage of this part of the country...
...and I thought you might especially enjoy seeing this photo...
...of a folk art figure made from wool locks! :)
The museum is housed in what was once an ice company building...
...and they've kept many of its lovely, industrial details.
Heinz foods feature prominently (as you might imagine)...
...and here's a curious artifact that I'll bet few of you have ever seen...
...a 'pickle sizing' sample case! ;)
